Trees, Corn and New Toys!

There was big excitement in our neighborhood this weekend - three trees were cut down in our neighbors' backyards! It started when our next door neighbor came home and found that her locust tree had somehow split from the middle of the tree all the way down to the ground. She called a local tree company, and they came out Friday night to put chains and rope around it to keep it from falling and crushing her house or the one up the street from her. The real fun took all day Saturday! She ended up having two trees cut down, and the neighbor next to her had one taken out for fun, too! There were guys in cranes and machines that dug, chopped and sawed in and out of the yard from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm. Talk about free entertainment...

Other exciting events included Sarah's first experience with corn on the cob.
My Grandpa Bob loved corn on the cob. I mean, the man LOVED it. I hope that Sarah will one day learn to love it, too, but for now she's still pretty unsure of what to do with it!

We rounded out our Saturday with a visit from Grammie and Grandpa Jeff. Sarah showed off her "new" water table and car (Grammie got them second hand, and I ordered replacement parts for them). I'm so glad that she enjoys spending time with my family...

She also convinced Grandpa to take her for a walk in her car.  It was much more interesting now that it had a steering wheel with a horn that honks!  (Okay, it's more of a beep than a honk, but you get the idea!)
