I Am What I Am

This morning, Tom, Sarah and I met up with the Day family at Lenexa's Spinach Festival.  Apparently, Lenexa was hailed as the “Spinach Capital of the World” during the 1930s.  Who knew?!  At any rate, Sarah loved running up and down the big hill, checking out the goods at the various booths, and dancing to the music near the stage.  It was a beautiful morning, and I'm so glad we went!

Sarah even got to meet Popeye (but I don't think she believed for an instant that those muscles were real!).

We also let Sarah play on the train for a while.  By train, I mean the old caboose that sits at the park...

After spending the morning at the festival, we came home to watch the KSU vs. Miami game.  Sarah proudly wore her first K-State jersey, and she helped us celebrate each touchdown!  (I swear those are touchdown arms!  Just because it sometime looks like dancing OR she has other things in her hands, she's a true Wildcat fan!!!)

No need to be nervous, baby - Klein has this one!

TOUCHDOWN!!!

Puppy Chow

Oh, Labor Day.  You sweet, sweet reminder of summertime freedoms.  You day of fun and food...from a dog bowl...

Please don't think that I make a habit of letting my daughter eat from the dog bowl.  Here's what happened leading up to this amusing (if completely disgusting) event:

First, I made the mistake of giving Sarah a couple of banana cookies for snack.  She has never really shown a liking for these cookies, so I'm not sure what I expected.  She apparently hasn't developed a taste for them in the last few days, either, because she promptly threw them to the floor.  The dog was outside at the time, so no one swooped in to gobble them up.  I wasn't okay just walking around them until the dog came back in, so I just threw them into the dog dish and went to get Sarah some goldfish crackers (which I KNOW she likes!).  Unfortunately, Sarah followed my lead and dumped her crackers into the bowl as well.  And then she decided that she wanted to eat them.  I was laughing too hard to stop her, so I just grabbed my camera!!!

Girls Just Want To Have Fun

We have awesome new neighbors.  They're friendly, they're our age, and they have a daughter just a few months younger than Sarah!  On Sunday, we went over to their house to help Grace celebrate her first birthday.  It was a lot of fun, and we all really enjoyed ourselves!

After the party, Sarah had to try out part of her party favors - the curly straw!

Of course, sometimes the straw is more fun if you take it out of the cup and share it with the dog!

And where do you keep a special birthday curly straw for safe-keeping?  Inside a barn, of course!

Sarah took a break from drinking water in a loopity-loop manner to watch a little Diego.  Apparenly, that's something so cool that she needed TWO pairs of sunglasses to do it right!

After her quick media break, she went back to drinking water with the curly straw.  It was harder than it looked, I guess, because she managed to drench the front of her dress.  Luckily, she was perfectly content to run around the house in a diaper...while pushing her lawnmower...

She eventually took a drink break and recruited Monkey to help her finish the job!
