Boo at the Zoo

Last weekend, Grandma Linda had a small stroke.  All things considered, she's doing really well and is currently at a rehab facility in Columbia to help her recover faster.  Because of this, Tom spent his weekend out of town, so the girls and I were on our own!

We took advantage of the beautiful weather on Saturday (sunny and 80 at the end of October!) and went to the zoo for their Halloween event.  Kate wore a Halloween onesie and Sarah dressed as a candy corn.  They both had a great time! (Also, I promise we saw the animals - it was just so crowded that I didn't take any pictures of the girls near any of them!)

We stopped for a little snack. Kate tried to eat a leaf. Sarah ate some Laffy Taffy.

Then she wanted to see what she would look like if she "ate ALL the Laffy Taffy!"

We played for a bit on the new playground...

...and got ourselves a tiger mask...

...then posed for one last round of photos in front of the Discovery Barn!

When I started getting the exact same expression of "are you done yet?" on both girls' faces, I knew it was time to head home for a rest!

We spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out on the deck, soaking up the last of the summer-like temperatures!

Enchanted Forest

Last night, Sarah and I went to Lenexa's Enchanted Forest (Tom and Kate stayed home to take a little nap while we were gone - the girls have been getting up EARLY this week!).

Sarah decided to save her Elsa costume for Halloween proper, so she wore her Elmo costume instead.

She loved the inflatables.  She loved seeing "music class" (the two ladies who taught music at Veronica's daycare).  She loved seeing the lights in the trees and everyone in costume.  She loved jumping in the bouncy houses and getting a spider balloon animal.

But she really, really loved getting candy! (She even refused to take her sucker out of her mouth for pictures...)

If Halloween itself is half as fun, we'll be doing well!

24 Weeks Old

October 15 - October 21

This week was all about the Royals!  For the first time in 29 years, they won the ACLS (in a sweep, no less) and are progressing to the World Series.  WOW!

Unfortunately, neither of Kate's parents are big baseball fans, so Kate doesn't have any Royals gear to wear in celebration (to be honest, Sarah is the only one in the house with a Royals shirt!).  So we dressed her in blue and hoped that it was close enough to count...

We also celebrated fall this weekend by meeting Grammie and PaPa at the Linn Valley Lakes Fall Festival, where Kate enjoyed some snuggle time with her grandparents.

Kate also got to rock her pumpkin hat.  She was a pretty good sport about it, too!

Later that night, Kate took her first hayride, too.  She didn't seem too impressed by it, but she didn't scream about it, either!

On the home front, Kate tried sweet potatoes this week.  She's also practicing sitting up.  That one is going to take some more work, though...
