July 2-July 8
Look who is super smiley these days!!! And boy, does she have a lot to smile about this week. The weather was GORGEOUS during the week (we had to wear jackets when we took our evening walk on July 2nd!), so we were able to take some outdoor field trips.

On Wednesday, Kate had her first ever trip to the zoo! Sarah showed Kate all of her favorite places in the zoo:
the polar bears...
...the kangaroos...
...the birds...
...our favorite water fountain...
We had so much fun at the zoo on Wednesday that we decided to go Deanna Rose Farmstead on Thursday - another first for Kate! Grammie and Grandpa joined us, and we all had a blast.
Oh! And also, Kate celebrated her first 4th of July this week!
She stayed awake for most of the Lenexa 4th of July Parade...

...the tigers...
...the butterfly garden...
...some napping meerkats...
...and, of course, the penguins.
And since Big Sis was showing Kate ALL the cool things at the zoo, Kate also had her first ride on the zoo train and on the carousel!
Sarah was TIRED after all that show and tell!
We started our day on the Kansas Farm Trail section of the farmstead.
Then Sarah and PaPa showed Kate how to feed the chickens.
After that, Kate slept HARD. She missed the goats and the ice cream. She even missed the pony rides. But she DID get in some quality time with Grammie while PaPa was keeping Sarah busy!
She stayed awake for most of the Lenexa 4th of July Parade...
...but she slept through fireworks that night! Maybe next year...
