Anyone who knows Sarah knows Ellie. Sarah calls Ellie her "special" and weeps when Ellie isn't around. Ellie lives a rough and tumble life and has the battle wounds to prove it. Her trunk and tail have it especially rough - Sarah will chew on Ellie's trunk from time to time and finds solace in rubbing Ellie's tail between her fingers. Sarah calls this "wiggling Ellie's tail," and if Ellie isn't around, Sarah will announce in a pained voice, "My fingers itch badly! I need Ellie's tail!"
At this point, I feel like Ellie is a family member. So when Sarah suggested we take some pictures of Ellie, it made total sense to me! I tried to document her in all of her jelly-stained glory because if any stuffed animal in our house will ever achieve Velveteen Rabbit-hood, it is this well-loved pachyderm...
