June 13 - June 19
This was a busy week! Sarah has been turning herself sideways in her crib and then rolling onto her side to suck her thumb for a couple of weeks now, but this week she rolled over from her stomach onto her back! Yea, Sarah!
This week has also been all about figuring out what can go in her mouth. Her fists and fingers remain her favorite option, but she's not above tasting toys, Mom's fingers, or even her clothes! Silly Sarah....
In playtime news, Sarah graduated from "play mat only" to "supervised activity center" this week. It was fun to watch her try to figure out what to do with all of the fun playthings surrounding her!
She's also branching out during tummy time - there's a lot more upper body strength being shown off! She raises herself up on her elbows and can even "fly" by pulling her arms and legs off the floor at the same time and balancing on her stomach.
Sarah's increased upper body strength and head control this week also meant a move from the lounging bath on the kitchen table to a more upright, sitting bath in the kitchen sink. This is fun because she can look out the window and/or play with the faucet!
After bath time comes bedtime, which has remained a piece of cake! She goes to bed around 8:00 or so, and we rarely hear from her before 6:00 am. The flip side to that, however, is her lack of napping during the day. I've found some success with the swaddle, but she's strong enough to break out of that now. I just take it where I can get it, and let her sleep wherever and whenever I can!
But the two big events this week came over the weekend. The first event was the planting of a new tree in our front yard. For reasons that will remain unwritten to maintain my husband's dignity, the little tree we had planted two years ago is no longer. Instead, we have "Sarah's Tree" - a tiny maple that will grow with her!
The other big event this week was Father's Day! Sarah wore her "I love Daddy" onesie as we gave Daddy his gifts (a book to read to her when he wants to spend time with her and a wii game for when he needs a little break) and went to brunch with Grammie, Grandpa Jeff, and Uncle Adam. If you haven't had the breakfast at R.J.'s Bob-B-Que, you need to get over there! Then we came back to the house to have some pecan pie that Sarah (and Mom!) made for Grandpa. It also allowed Grandpa some quality Sarah time!
