35 Weeks Old

November 21 - November 27

What a week!  Sarah turned 35 weeks old AND 8 months old on Monday! 

Tuesday, Sarah and Tom got to stay home together. Wednesday I got to stay home with them!  We baked pies and made sweet potato casserole in preparation for Thanksgiving.  This year was the first year we've celebrated without the Mayer side of the family, but it was also the first time that we got to celebrate with Miss Sarah!  She was a real joy and kept everyone laughing all afternoon.

She started the day hanging with Grandpa Jeff and showing him how well she can stand on her big, strong legs.  (Please note that she is also wearing SHOES in this photo!)

The standing quickly changed to rolling. Rolling on the floor. Rolling under the couch. Rolling out of the dress.  My daughter is SO graceful.

She took a quick peek at the Thanksgiving book I made her to help her remember why we were stuffing ourselves full of turkey and pie...

...and then she sat down to play a new game with Grammie!  She didn't quite get how to make the animals appear, but with a little help from Grammie, she really enjoyed pushing them back into their holes once they popped up!

Finally, it was time to eat! We plopped her into her highchair so that the rest of us could dig in, and that's when Grammie broke out the Indian headress. Poor Sarah. There is SO much more of that in your future!

We eventually took the headress off and let her experience Thanksgiving dinner!

Sarah got to try a little turkey and some mashed potatoes. The thing she enjoyed most, however, were the spatulas Grammie gave her to play with while we ate!

After dinner, the spoiling of Sarah commenced!  She got a bottle and a story from Grandpa...

...play time on the floor with Uncle Adam...

...and some cuddling with Grammie on the sofa!

She took a quick nap while the rest of us talked about what to buy each other for Christmas, and then it was time for pie! 

Sarah got to have some pumpkin pie this year, and she seemed to really enjoy it!

What a wonderful first Thanksgiving!!!

On Friday, Sarah and I went to Lawrence with Grammie and Grandpa Jeff.  It was cool outside, but not too cold.  Sarah enjoyed the sights and sounds of Mass Street (who knew there were so many dogs walking along there?) and behaved herself very well inside all the shops.  It was fun to see her take in all the Christmas lights, and it was great to spend some extra time with Grammie and Grandpa!

On Saturday, we put up our Christmas decorations. Sarah was excited about the lights, and she hasn't tried to pull anything off the tree yet.  We'll see how long our luck lasts there!
