Sarah and I had a lot of fun together over Christmas break! We gave ourselves a day to recover from Christmas and then while poor, poor Daddy "worked" from home, Sarah and I visited museums and played with friends. We started with our first visit to Wonderscope Children's Museum on Dec. 27. This museum features ten different rooms, each with a different hands-on exhibit for kids to play with. We got there right when it opened, and Sarah had the Farm to Market room to herself! She started by petting a cow and checking to see if there were any eggs under the chickens...

She also had a BLAST picking vegetables out of the garden! She only tried to eat a few of them, and I'm sure they all get cleaned every night - right?
She even took some of her harvest to the farmer's market area of the room!
More kids started to show up, so we headed off to the next exhibit before anyone had a meltdown over having to share a stuffed chicken! The Raceways area was fun (Sarah loves to play with balls!), but it was a little too advanced for her. She tried her best, but we just kind of chased other people's golf balls and we didn't stay in this room long.
Luckily, we finished up with the Raceways exhibit just in time to go to the Funky Momma concert. Sarah loves music and she loves dancing, so you'd think that she would love a concert, right? WRONG. Apparently it's only fun to dance at our house to the songs that Sarah enjoys listening to. Sorry, Funky Momma - totally not your fault!
Instead, we took advantage of the fact that most of the kids had disappeared to the concert and spent some time in the art room. Sarah got her first face paint experience, and she didn't seem to mind it at all! Who knew that she would hate a concert but be fine with me drawing on her face?! That girl always surprises me...
Since she is still considered a "little kid," we headed to the Small Wonders exhibit room next. Sarah enjoyed climbing up and down the stairs and "driving" the boat, but she was ready to head out of there pretty quickly!
As people started coming back from the concert, we made one last stop - the baby nursery! Sarah loves her some baby dolls, and this was the highlight of the trip for her.
She spent a lot of time carrying the babies around and giving them milk from a giant syringe!
After convincing her that the babies would be there to play with next time we came back, we headed home for nap and some time with Daddy and Pickle that afternoon.
The next day, however, we said "bye-bye" to Daddy again and met up with the Eastlands and Greggorys at the Johnson County Museum. The highlight of this museum is an exhibit called Kidscape. It's an interactive play area designed to look like a city street. Kids can play in a bookstore, a park, a hospital, a fashion boutique, a theater, and a farm.

She also enjoyed playing with the cars, trucks and trains in the "City Hall" section of the museum.
Joy of all joys, though! The Johnson County Museum has a room full of babies in their hospital! I mean, it HAD been almost 24 hours since she'd had a multitude of baby dolls at her disposal...
We spent some time in the theater where Sarah put on her very own music concert (guess that Funky Momma concert the day before was an inspiration if nothing else!).
After a wonderful performance, the kids all trooped into the farm area. They played with the cow and some of the vegetables, but the real star of the show was the tractor!
After some time at the farm, we packed it up and headed over to the Eastland house for a while. Then it was home for lunch and a nap. Now we have two new places to add to our list of fun things to do in Kansas City!
