They say the most glorious messes in the world are made in the living room on Christmas morning, and I couldn't agree more! We started our mess-making in the family room, though, when we opened the gifts that Santa had left for us.
Sarah was delighted to find that Santa had brought her the chocolate Santa she had asked for.
He also brought her a Paw Patrol hat and "dog collar." She didn't take it off all morning!
We helped Kate open her gifts. She got some sweet potato Puffs. Sarah was not impressed.
She tried digging for more exciting things, but poor Kate just got teethers and pacifiers and silly old baby toys...
Then we moved on to the gifts from Santa that wouldn't fit in our stockings!
Sarah got the Paw Patrol lookout she had asked for. She also got the complete set of Paw Patrol pups to play with in the lookout!
Santa also brought Sarah a Thomas the Train that she can drive on the driveway and sidewalk once it gets warmer out. I think she was happy about it!
Kate got a stuffed bunny, a block wall, and a castle swing and slide set for the deck. Santa must be hoping for warmer weather soon so these girls can use their gifts!
Then we moved into the living room to open the gifts from our family. Sarah gave Daddy a toy helicopter and Kate gave him a new mouse for his computer. Sarah gave Kate a little blue owl toy, and Kate gave Sarah a pirate whistle.
Sarah helped Daddy open some BBQ tools. (He also got tickets to see The Book of Mormon.)
Then she got down to opening her own presents! She got a lot of Sophia the First stuff (a flute, a book, some socks, and a coloring book), a Frozen karaoke radio, an Elsa doll, and moon sand. There were two super hero capes (one for her and one for Kate once she's a little older), too.
This girl loves books so much that we had to stop opening gifts so that Daddy could read her new book to her!
Then Sarah helped Kate open her gifts. Kate got a ball pop and drop palace toy, a Very Hungry Caterpillar stuffed play set, and some new books.
Kate was much more interested in the wrapping paper than the gifts, though!
Sarah even helped me open my gifts! She bravely crawled inside this enormous gift bag to pull out the picture frames Daddy had gotten for me. (I also got some new boots, some photo editing software, and a pizza stone. Thanks, Santa!!!)
Just look at this beautiful mess.
