July 11 - July 17
This week it was HOT!!! With heat warnings and temperatures topping out at 100+ without factoring in the humidity, we stayed inside this week! Sarah spent lots of time rolling around on the floor - she can now roll from her stomach to her back AND from her back to her stomach! Unfortunately, she has yet to figure out how to do those two things in succession, so we get a lot of screaming when she ends up in a position she isn't happy with. She's also leaning way up to see what's going on above her!
Due to the high temperatures, we watched a lot of television this week. We've been following the Tour de France, and we've seen a lot of HGTV. This was Sarah's first official viewing of "The Princess Bride." If you look closely, you can see Fezzig with Wesley under his arm and Inigo getting ready to knock on Miracle Max's door. Hopefully it won't "take a miracle" for Sarah to love this movie forever!!!
Sarah has also started sucking her thumb and holding a blanket to fall asleep. It's super cute, and I can't stop taking pictures of her sleeping! I'm hoping that I know when it starts to turn creepy and cut myself off...
We ventured out of the house on Sunday, hoping to beat the heat. We had breakfast at Mama's 39th Street Dinner for the first time after it reopened (they had a fire), and everyone ooed and awed over Sarah. Mom and Dad shared a deep fried cinnamon roll, and then dug in to the much-missed breakfast glory that is Mama's! Daddy took a picture of Sarah eyeing his coffee:
And to top off the week, we visited Kansas City's first Trader Joe's! They opened on Friday, but we took Sarah Sunday morning. The shelves were kind of picked over and the lines were kind of long, but we still got a good haul of delicious, affordable Trader Joe's goodies! Now if only we could get an IKEA...
