18 Weeks Old

July 25 - July 31

It's week 18, and Sarah's jumping for joy at all the excitement in her life this week!  We had her 4 month pediatrician visit on Tuesday, and she's growing like a weed.  She's weighing in at 16 lb, 13 oz (95%ile) and is 25 1/4" long (80%ile).  Her head is 43 cm around (75%ile), so it's looking like she may have escaped inheriting Tom's head!  My poor little kitten got another round of shots, but the Snoopy band-aids made it all worthwhile.

The pediatrician also okayed the introduction of solids!  Wednesday afternoon, Sarah had her first taste of rice cereal. She didn't fight it, but she wasn't real sure what to do with it, either...

In the end, she decided that the strange stuff on her tongue was okay after all, and we've been working on eating more of it all week!

This week, Daddy left for his annual guys baseball trip.  This time, they went to San Diego!  Despite Sarah's best efforts to prove that she would fit in his carry-on, Daddy left her at home with Mom for 4 days...

Another fun first this week was Sarah's first experience in a REAL swimming pool!  My friend Julie invited us to join her and her kids at her parents' pool on Friday.  It was under 100 degrees and overcast, so I jumped at the chance to get Sarah in the water!  We played with a juice can (it doesn't take much!), floated in a kiddie ring, and admired the daring leaps Adam and Margo made from the side of the pool into the water. It was a ton of fun for both of us, and it wore Sarah out to the point that she took her first ever 3-hour nap that afternoon.  Yea, swimming!

Don't you just love those wrinkly little toes???
