41 Weeks Old

January 2 - January 8

I got to spend Monday of this week with my husband and baby girl, but Tuesday meant it was time to go back to work.  The adjustment was harder than I expected it to be!  I had gotten used to spending time with Sarah, and having her back at daycare was a little tough on me.  Of course, work is hardly as much fun as playing with your daughter all day!

This week, we noticed Sarah making a lot more sounds.  She hums, she blows raspberries, she squeaks and giggles, and she yells at us if we tell her "no" or take something away from her!  She's also beginning to sign to indicate what she wants, and she uses the signs for "more" and "milk" a LOT!  "More" is really just her clapping while she's in her high chair, but it gets her point across.

We are also letting her have some say in her food choices now.  I'll hold two things in front of her and let her grab which food she'd like to eat.  It's worked well, and we're glad of it - she has also learned how to spit out the foods she doesn't like!!!

Sarah is also making her opinion known when it comes to walking.  She REALLY wants to be moving all the time now, and will get pretty upset with us if we don't hold her hands and let her walk across the room with our support!  She still uses the furniture to help her stand, but it just doesn't let her move the way Mom and Dad can...

Sarah also uses her new-found ability to stand at the door to watch for Pickle.  She never shows any interest in looking outside - unless she knows the dog is in the backyard!  Then she is glued to the door until we let Pickle back inside.

 

Sarah has also been really into books lately.  "Baby's 1st Toys" is her current favorite, with "Baby Faces" being a close second.  Looking at these books is just about the only time she'll sit still these days, so we're encouraging her love of reading as much as we can!

Sometimes she even has the book facing the right way!

   

This week was also a big week for those K-State fans in our house.  On Wednesday, we played KU in basketball.  Sarah wore her K-State finest, but we still lost.  On Friday, we played in the Cotton Bowl.  Grandpa Jeff came over to watch the game, and Grammie sent a K-State balloon for Sarah to play with.  It was the highlight of the night, since we lost that game, too.  At least we beat MU in basketball on Saturday!
