44 Weeks Old

January 23 - January 29

Oh, Miss Sassypants!  Doesn't this picture just scream, "I'm up to no good"?  And it's so true!  Whether she's playing in the dog's water dish, climbing into the shelf on the end table, or throwing her Cheerios on the floor, this little gal has a lot to say!  She is starting to point at things, which helps us understand what she wants.  She is also starting to sign "milk" when she wants milk...or when she wants more...or when she wants us to come play...or when she's saying "bye"...which doesn't help us understand what she wants!  She has also started sharing her food with us, though, and that is SUPER cute!!!

Another trick this week is her absolute refusal to stay where you put her.  Lay her down on her back in the crib?  She'll flip onto her belly and stick her butt in the air to go to sleep.  Set her on the floor by her books?  She'll crawl to the sofa and cruise the length of it.  Try to get her to lay still for her weekly photo?  Forget about it!  Notice how she sticks the landing on this move.  Maybe we should put her in gymnastics!

In an attempt to get her to lay on her back long enough to take a picture, I finally resorted to a stuffed animal on the fan. Can you tell how well THAT worked?

And speaking of not staying where she's put...if you put her at the bottom of the stairs, she'll climb to the top!

Sarah officially climbed the hallway stairs all by herself this Tuesday.  By Thursday, she had climbed the hallway stairs and then continued her adventure by turning the corner and climbing the attic stairs as well!



To add to her independence, Sarah's working on feeding herself.  She can work the bottle and the sippy cup like a pro!

 

Sarah has also figured out how to work the LeapFrog Fridge DJ by herself.  She's always liked this toy, but now that she knows how to make it play music, she plays with it all the time!  Tom and I both know all the words to "20 Little LeapFrogs," "Birdie Bye-Bye," and "Any-Any-Ooo" if you'd like us to teach you those songs...

 

 

Another fun thing Sarah did this week was visit friends and relatives.  On Friday, my Uncle Terry and cousin Elaine were in town.  Elaine is moving from Boston to Seattle, and Terry was driving cross-country with her and all her stuff.  We met up with everyone over at my Aunt Marilyn's house, and Sarah got to spend some time playing with her cousin Aiden's toys while baby Gavin got some loving from Elaine!

 

She also enjoyed the veggies from some Plaza III steak soup (which is exactly what my Grandma Betty would have made on an occasion such as this!) and some photo op time with Terry, Elaine, and Grandpa Jeff.

On Saturday, Sarah went with me, Grammie and Grandpa Jeff to visit our friend, Jeri.  Jeri has lived next door to the Lee family for 33 years, and she just recently "downsized" to a townhouse.  We went to admire her new house and to visit - a trip that would have lasted longer if Sarah had taken an afternoon nap before we got there!  Regardless, Jeri's house is beautiful, and we look forward to many more visits in the future!

Saturday afternoon (AFTER she finally took a short nap!), Sarah enjoyed some snack time.  First, she ate a special "sunflower" cookie made for her by one of my paras, Mrs. Currin.  It was a full day before Kansas Day (Jan. 29, folks!), but in an attempt to keep the cookie soft, we ate it early.

Cookies are yummy, but have you tried these socks?!



On Sunday, Sarah spent some time playing on the slide Grammie bought her.  It's been in our attic since before she was born, but she's just now discovered it.  It's pretty fun to watch her explore!
