52 Weeks Old

March 19-March 25

This is the last of Sarah's weekly photos - she turned one this week!  From now on, we'll try to tone down the blog a bit. :)  That being said, hold on to your hats for what might be the longest blog entry ever!!!

On Wednesday, the celebrations began!  When Sarah woke up, I cuddled her and sang "Happy Birthday" to her. When she came downstairs, she got her first birthday present - a wagon from Mommy and Daddy!  We had some breakfast and then sent her to daycare, armed with strawberry cupcakes to celebrate at school!  Here she is with her friends from daycare:

When she got home from school on Wednesday, we took her 12 month picture.

We also let her play in her wagon, enjoy a bottle (those are going away soon, kiddo!) and crawl around in her party dress before Uncle Adam and Grammie and Grandpa came over for cupcakes at our house.  Notice how her lady-like behaviors showed off her cute birthday bloomers:

We had a quick dinner, and then it was time to celebrate!  Grammie and Grandpa brought a balloon and a fun, plush stacking ring for Sarah.  She loved carrying those rings around with her - they even got to go for a ride in her new wagon!

Daddy got in on the fun, too, and used the frog ring as a hat for a while.

We paused for a brief moment at 6:15 to remember what we were doing a year ago at this time...

...and then it was party time!!!  Daddy started the celebration off with a game of Toss the Baby.

Then Sarah got to open her presents!  Grammie and Grandpa gave her a new board book and a toy pelican, Uncle Adam gave her some cute new onesies to wear this summer, and Daddy snuck in a copy of The Muppet Movie. Sarah had fun with the tissue paper, too...

Sarah also enjoyed wearing the birthday glasses Grammie brought her!

Finally, it was time for cupcakes!  YUM!!! (Didn't Mommy do a nice job with these?)

Sarah got the royal treatment - a wagon ride from the family room to the kitchen, courtesy of Uncle Adam.

After arriving in style, we put her in her high chair and stuck her birthday hat on top of her head!  It didn't stay on for long, but it was on long enough to get some really cute pictures!!!

Then the hat came off, and the true cupcake smashing began!  Sarah LOVED the icing, but didn't seem particularly interested in the cake...

She made sure to smear a little on her arms...

 ...and on her face...

...and then it was time for bath and bed.  What a wonderful 1st birthday for Sarah!!!

(Her official friends and family birthday party was on Saturday, March 24, which is still a part of Sarah's Week 52.  I made it a separate blog entry, though, for the sake of space.  Be sure to check it out!!!)
