This morning, Sarah got out of bed and came downstairs to the first of her birthday presents from Mom and Dad - a PlasmaCar! She has lots of ride-on toys, but none that you power by moving your hands back and forth. Should it burn some energy in addition to being fun? You bet.
Then, she noticed that Mommy had made her a Paw Patrol birthday banner! She had to get up on a chair and point to each of the dogs. She kept yelling, "There's Zuma! I see Chase!" And she named each of the dogs for us. I'm guessing she has forgotten that we have all seen every episode of Paw Patrol a million and a half times and know those dogs better than we know some of our own adult friends at this point...
Then we took her down to the basement to give her her big present - a bounce house! She was thrilled, and I was super happy to have yet another way for her to burn off some energy. (Also, her smile of joy when she first saw the thing just melted me!)

Unfortunately, Daddy had to go to work. But the two of us girls spent the day playing together! First, we made some cupcakes to share with family later in the day. We also made some extras to share with her friends at school on Monday! Sarah, as usual, helped by testing the batter for me. ***Please don't call the health department on me for letting her cook with no pants on!***
At lunch, I let Sarah pick where she wanted to eat. She picked Fritz's, so we spent an hour or so watching trains deliver over-priced, tasteless food. It made her happy, though, so it was totally worth it! We even met up with Sarah's birthday buddy, Brooklyn, at Fritz's. Brooklyn is just two hours older than Sarah and was delivered at the same hospital by the same doctor. Her mom and I are friends, too, so it's a pretty neat thing! Apparently, they share not only a birthday, but also a taste for greasy burgers and trains.
After lunch, we went home to bounce some more in Sarah's bouncy castle before decorating her cupcakes. Can you guess how we decorated them? Yup. More Paw Patrol. I think I should get some kind of award for finding/making all this stuff since Paw Patrol is a newer TV show and still doesn't have any kind of items available for purchase anywhere! What we won't do for those we love...
Around 6:30, Grammie, Uncle Adam and Aunt Megan came over to celebrate with us (PaPa had cards that night and couldn't come, but he had taken Sarah to McDonalds for lunch the day before so he still got to spend some time with her).
Lucky, lucky Sarah got to open more presents! She got a Dora Birthday playhouse from Grammie and PaPa...
...and a kite and a cool train puzzle from Adam and Megan!
Sarah even took some time to play with her new toys and enjoy her family on her birthday.
Then it was time for cupcakes! Sarah really enjoyed being the center of attention this year and knew just what to do with the candles on her Chase cupcake when we finally quit singing to her.
What a wonderful birthday she had this year!
