This weekend, Tom and his friend, Matt, participated in the Bucyrus Invitational BBQ competition at the Jansen's family ranch. They spent Friday and Saturday cooking pork, chicken, and sausage. They even took 2nd place in sausage!
The highlight of the BBQ is always a big pot luck dinner on Friday night. Harold Jansen provides oodles of delicious BBQ, and the rest of us show up with side dishes and desserts. The pot luck also provides all of the kids an opportunity to play at the ranch, and Sarah took her duty VERY seriously.

She went to the barn with PaPa and saw the parrot and the horses...
...and then she even petted one of Harold's Belgians (with encouragement from PaPa)!
Before long, she was so in love with this horse that she got up the gumption to hand-feed this gentle giant.
It was a truly beautiful night to be outside, and everyone enjoyed themselves tremendously. Kate, you were there, too, my love! Grammie just stole you away to spend time with you and to share you with her friends, so I have no photos of you at the BBQ. Sorry, kiddo!
