On Saturday, the girls and I piled into the Talboy car with Monica, Grace and Michael. We headed south to Linn Valley Lakes to meet up with Grammie and PaPa for the community's fall festival. The girls loved being able to ride in the same car, and I loved having adult conversation for the trip south!
The girls started their fun by picking a pumpkin to decorate. PaPa helped with the manual labor.
Then the girls got to work!
Kate and PaPa supervised.
Check out these gorgeous pumpkins!
After all the hard work of painting and applying glitter, the girls needed a play break! They had to try out all the slides...
Then, it was time to check out the Linn Valley fire truck! It's not quite as new and shiny as the fire trucks we see around town, but a fire truck is still a fire truck.
Fire trucks are interesting, but not as much fun as blowing dandelions or chasing your shadow in a field!
Again, PaPa and Kate supervised.
Then the girls decided they needed to spend some more time on the playground before dinner. Lucky for them, Monica was on hand to push the tire swing for the girls and their new friend!
Be surprised - Kate and PaPa supervised.
The girls negotiated a few more minutes of playtime before dinner, which gave Sarah time to swing on a panda and a duck!
Since the girls wanted to be sure to have a drink with their dinner, they each tried their hand at the ring toss. After a few failed attempts, both girls walked away with a can of orange soda!
Grammie and Kate supervised.
Drinks? Check. Hot dogs? Not so much! The girls were thrilled to hear that they got to cook their hot dogs over the fire. PaPa was nice enough to help them...
Wait. I meant, PaPa was nice enough to cook the hot dogs while the girls ran around not helping at all!
They sure had fun not cooking hot dogs, though!
The girls had no problem helping to eat the hot dogs, and they even shared their chips with each other so that they each got to "try another kind." Too cute!
After dinner, the girls learned how to roll down a hill. How do you get to be three years old and not know how to roll down a hill?!? Regardless, I've taught them how to do it now. Look at these girls go!
Sarah ran up and said, "Mommy! I rolled-ed down the hill!" I think she had fun...
As the sun started to set, we took a short hayride around the park area.
PaPa and Kate climbed on.
Then Sarah and Grammie threw straw at each other. Guess who started that one? (I'll give you a hint - it WASN'T the three-year-old!)
Then the tractor started down the road...
What a fun night for everyone!
