Seeing Santa

It seems like fall weekend go faster than weekends any other time of the year.  Maybe it's because there are so many fun things to do between the beginning of October and the end of December!

This weekend, we had a whole boatload of fun things to do!  On Friday night, we met up with the Bartel clan at the Winter Wonderland at Bass Pro.  Originally, I had planned to take the girls to see Santa at the lighting of the downtown Overland Park Christmas tree.  But then it rained!  Luckily, we knew where to find an indoor Santa!

The girls were thrilled...

Last year, Sarah wanted nothing to do with the man in the red suit.  This year, she marched right up to him and told him that she wants a Paw Patrol lookout and a chocolate Santa!

She even sat on his lap for photos!  Kate didn't seem too upset to be held by Santa, either.

We tried to take a few photos in the Winter Wonderland, but Kate was totally distracted by the lights and Sarah wouldn't let go of her candy cane (which, I was delighted to discover, she still calls a "candy can").

And so, in the true spirit of Christmas, we let Sarah practice shooting animals.

Even Daddy got in on the fun.

Thankfully, Kate would rather look at the lights and play with her feet than shoot turkeys and deer!

We ended our time in the Winter Wonderland with a ride on the carousel.  The animals didn't go up and down, but no one seemed to mind!

In the end, it was a pretty good visit to Santa - even if it wasn't the one I had originally planned!
